New York Locals “youbet” opened for Wishy at Racket on October 17th and I had the absolute pleasure of attending. This was my first time seeing youbet, but not my first time hearing of them. I’ve been in New York for almost 2 years now and have heard their name everywhere, on all the cool lineups I haven’t been able to attend, in all of the cool press, and from trusted friends who have great taste. I had always wanted to see them, and boy am I glad I did.
Lead singer, Nick Llobet has one of the most captivating voices i’ve heard in a while, similar to Brian Aubert (of Silversun Pickups fame) which is a high compliment coming from me. It is no surprise that both members Nick Llobet and Micah Prussack are music teachers by day, you can tell by how dialed In they are while performing. It Is soemthing that really sets bands like youbet apart. They were the perfect opener for Wishy, a band I adore.
