Artist Feature: ROSIE

Emma: So first off let’s start off with a little introduction for our readers at home! Who is ROSIE?

ROSIE: Hi I’m ROSIE! I’m an artist/songwriter from New York and my purpose as a musician is to raise mental health awareness through music!

Emma: How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?

ROSIE: I would describe my sound as: emotional pop, singer/songwriter, with lots of honest lyrics and live instrumentation.

Emma: You just dropped a single entitled “Something I Hate”, can you tell us a little bit about the writing process?

ROSIE: I went through so many ups and downs while writing “something I hate” because the whole song is about some of my deepest insecurities. I always say that turning trauma into art is extremely hard, but always worth it in the end when you see others resonating and healing because of it.

Emma: The response has been overwhelmingly positive, how does it feel to be creating music that connects with people so deeply?

ROSIE: Honestly, I feel like all my struggles with my body insecurity and confidence have finally been validated after years of keeping it all to myself. I’m beyond grateful for the amount of love this song has received in such a short time, because hopefully that means it’s reaching the people it is meant to reach.

Emma: You are playing Lollapalooza on Thursday July 28th, what can people expect from your set?

ROSIE: My set for Lolla is gonna cover every range of emotions from heartbreak to anger, to love and beyond. You can expect to dance and cry and hopefully leave feeling seen and heard and loved.

Emma: You finished up your first tour opening for Chelsea Cutler back in April and played your first festival in June, how did they go? Do you have any advice for people touring for the first time?

ROSIE: Touring with Chelsea and playing my first festival were both huge steps for me, not only only professionally but psychologically. I have always struggled with my confidence when it comes to being a performing artist, but after spending 2 months with the kindest, most hardworking artist and crew, I now know I was born to do this. I took that confidence with me into my first festival and it made the experience all the more magical.

Emma: You are very active on your social media, how do you think it has affected the way that you release music?

ROSIE: I was not always social media inclined, but right now promoting music online is crucial, so I have adapted, and I’m really glad I did. Releasing music is different now with Tik Tok culture. It feels like you’re always fighting the clock and there’s all these new “rules” about putting out music, but I try to keep my head down and put out songs that I love regardless of how they perform on socials.

Emma: What can people expect from ROSIE in the future?

ROSIE: Sonically I am definitely stepping into my pop era so I’m super pumped for that. In terms of upcoming shows, projects, etc, there will be no shortage, I promise!
